Overview: "You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger…" Inception was all about creating a sub conscious soundscape in which Cobb and his team would carry out their heist. Musically I provided far more material than any previous project, initially in the form of long soundscapes mostly born out of orchestral sample sessions . Some of these performances were reinterpreted by the orchestra, others where replayed through speakers in the hall in which they were first created through then rerecorded. The creative process never ceased as ideas morphed from ambience into rhythmic devices all of which were constantly re-evaluated throughout the writing and dub process, creating a real sonic maze. Hans Zimmer's score once again provided an inspiration and threw down challenges on a daily basis. This was the longest project i've been involved in too, almost a year from inception to my eventual extraction. I had huge expectations from the outset and Inception surpassed them all.
Highlights: Everything, from reading the script to visiting the mind bending set to cautiously making the first sound, the months spent with Hans's team creating the dream, to playing the score live in LA.
